During December 2023 I did something to my knee, To me it felt like the muscle of the inside, I am no expert but didn’t seem to be urgent enough to warrant a Doctors visit …. And didn’t really want want to hassle to make a appointment and getting frustrated with the quizzing questions from receptionists so I put up with it,
Some days it ached more than others, the most difficult was in bed but found a pillow underneath for support
I had recently moved from the Netherlands after living for a few years there, I walked a lot, sometimes 40kms a week … being flat this was relatively easy
Sometime in January I stayed away for the night and slept on a tempura mattress and the next morning like a miracle the knee issue went away
I was sceptical and expected any moment to reoccur but no, months went by and out the blue on a normal day during lovely weather in May it came back with a vengeance !
To the point that heels 👠 weren’t possible at all and even a few steps up and down in my apartment became a major hurdle
I did visit a sports therapist and let me tell you it was worth every penny … he didn’t fix the problem at all but after several examinations, walking on tread mill which he videoed and a hands on manipulation it was concluded I may have slightly torn my ‘minisci’ the muscle surrounding the cartilage
How I did that I have no idea but came up with having moved to Yorkshire I blame this hills and moors completely! Than the flat ness of the Netherlands
I suffered in silence, some days better than others but it really was starting to have a draining effect on me with lack of sleep and difficulty walking
By chance I went for a pedicure to a Chinese salon who offered reflexology
What a game changer !
I literally trotted out of there like a bat out of hell and suddenly stopped when realised no pain … I don’t profess to understand at all how it all works but apparently the soles of your feet reflect your body and pressing/massaging your feet can have profound effects with many issues …
I am quite literally stepping out and revelling in an ache free joint
Until the next time
